We spun through wild symbols, scatter wheels and huge 3×3 mega symbols, but it was ultimately the progressive jackpot prizes we were after. And luckily it triggered very often, giving us plenty of chances to claim one of the four jackpots. But more on our experience in our review of Wheel of Wishes below.

Wilds – Wheel of Wishes wild symbols quite literally have ‘Wild’ written on them, so you’ll have no trouble spotting them on the reels. Apart from substituting for all paying symbols, they even come with their values. In fact, a payline made up of five wilds will give you a win of £1,250. They landed with every couple of spins and helped us save quite a few near misses in the process.
Scatter Symbols – The key to Power Spins and the progressive jackpots, scatter symbols are represented by the name of the game -Wheel of Wishes – itself. They’re the slot’s highest-paying symbols, offering a 12,500 win for five of a kind. Although we never managed five in one go, we got two scatters on plenty of spins, which took us straight to the power spins bonus.
Power Spins – As the slot’s bonus game, Power Spins can be triggered in a couple of ways. You can either wait for two or more scatters to activate the bonus, or hit the Power Mode switch to the left of the reels. This sets you back 10x your selected bet, but it also permanently upgrades you to power spins. During the bonus rounds, high-paying symbols land on the first and fifth reels, while a 3×3 mega symbol lands in the middle. Landing identical symbols across the board earns you the game’s maximum prize of 500x. Or you might land a gigantic wheel symbol and trigger the jackpot feature.
Progressive Jackpots – Once you make it to the jackpot feature, simply click the wheel to give it a spin and get in the chance of winning a jackpot prize. The Mini, Minor, Major and WowPot seed at 10, 100, 50,0000 and 2,000,000 respectively. The mini-prize is easy enough to trigger, but you’ll need way more luck to reach the higher jackpots.
Wheel of Wishes’ low volatility meant that we were constantly triggering power spins and having a go at the jackpot wheel. But although we scored the mini prize a few times, we never really managed any of the higher pots and the game got old pretty quickly. The lack of features is to blame here, and Wheel of Wishes relies solely on power spins to deliver all the action.
It’s also worth pointing out that although power mode sounds like a great way to upgrade your spins, the 10x cost paired with the slot’s relatively low 500x maximum win proved quite tricky. Sure, it gives you a better chance of landing a jackpot prize, but it will also drain your funds in no time at all.
We feel like there are more robust jackpot options out there, with a better set of features and base game potential. But if you’re still set on winning that WowPot prize, then be sure to give Wheel of Wishes a spin.
Microgaming’s original progressive jackpot hit is a somewhat better alternative to Wheel of Wishes. Although you’ll have to play with a lower RTP of 88.12%, Mega Moolah comes with free spins and a win multiplier. This takes the game’s potential up to 1,800x your selected bet, instead of Wheel of Wishes’ more limited 500x.
We recommend trying out NetEnt’s hit progressive jackpot slot for similar reasons. You get an even higher 2,162x maximum win from the base game here, as well as all of the special features mentioned in Mega Moolah. RTP is also pretty good here, sitting at a much more acceptable 96.6%.
