With expanding rows and thousands of ways to win, Megaways games offer plenty of win potential. And there’s plenty of potential to go around in Playson’s Legend of Cleopatra Megaways which comes with a boosted 200,704 maximum ways to win. It’s Playson’s first time adding Megaways and they’ve done a great job of using it to remake one of their older releases.
Although Legend of Cleopatra Megaways isn’t the best-looking slot we’ve ever seen, it still has plenty of charm. The Egyptian setting is supported by a relaxing soundtrack and a set of animations that light up the reels whenever you hit a winning combination.
But it’s the slot’s feature list and win potential that we’re interested in. Playson doesn’t add much beyond the Megaways mechanic and collapsing symbols, so you get the original’s wild symbols, scarab multipliers and free spins. I’ll remind you that this is a highly volatile slot, with a somewhat lower-than-average RTP of 95.84%, so both wins and special features will take their time to trigger.
So, does Legend of Cleopatra Megaways deliver an experience worthy of our time and money? We’ll discuss all of that and more in our Legend of Cleopatra Megaways review below.

This isn’t the largest feature list we’ve ever come across, but Playson has done a great job of connecting the different pieces. A simple win can lead to an avalanche of rewards and that’s incredibly important in a highly volatile game like this, where wins can be particularly rare.
Landing a win in Legend of Cleopatra Megaways triggers collapsing symbols, which can activate scarab multipliers and new wins that could eventually lead to triggering free spins. Apart from the pleasure of watching all of these mechanics connect, we also got our best wins whenever these features combined.
Wild Symbols – These gold symbols are your run-of-the-mill wild symbols, carrying no value of their own and stepping in for missing pay symbols that could otherwise form a winning combination. They were particularly useful when paired with collapsing symbols, allowing us to continue the winning streak and make better use of the Scarab multiplier.
Collapsing Symbols – Whenever you hit a winning combination, the winning symbols are removed from the reels and new symbols collapse from the top of the reels to replace them. There’s no limit to the number of recurring wins you can trigger, and the feature only ends once you stop hitting new paylines.
Scarab Multiplier – Symbols sitting on the top bonus row can have one or more scarab symbols attached to them. Each scarab symbol adds a +1 to your win multiplier, and it’s activated whenever these symbols form part of a winning combination. The win multiplier affects any wins that additional collapsing symbols may trigger, and you can have a maximum scarab multiplier of up to 12x. We managed quite a few big wins thanks to Scarab multipliers, although we got to experience their full potential during free spins.
Free Spins – Instead of using scatter symbols, the Legend of Cleopatra Megaways free spins bonus is triggered by collapsing all of the symbols on the top bonus row. This triggers 12 free spins which follow identical gameplay to the base game, except for the scarab multiplier which is now active for the duration of the bonus rounds. It took us close to 180 spins to activate free spins for the first time, with plenty of near misses along the way. If you’d rather just jump straight into the action, you can use the buy feature which costs 100x your selected bet. The permanent scarab multipliers brought us the biggest wins in the game and helped us land a huge win of ₹50,000.
Legend of Cleopatra Megaways is a great first attempt for Playson. It implements the Megaways mechanic well and gives life to a dated game. We particularly enjoyed the adrenaline that the game built through well-connected features and high volatility.
But we’re ultimately looking for a game that can give us some sizable wins, and with a maximum win of 6,584x your stake, the Legend of Cleopatra Megaways slot falls short of this.
Legend of Cleopatra Megaways has lots going for it with collapsing symbols and win multipliers, but we can’t recommend this to experienced players looking to win big at the reels.
iSoftBet has had more experience with the Megaways mechanic, as you can see from Olympus Zeus Megaways. Released in 2023, this slot comes with 117,649 ways to win, a 96% RTP, high volatility and an astonishing 50,000x maximum win potential. It’s a better option for those who want a bigger payout… and who doesn’t?
You’ll also want to have a look at Pragmatic Play’s colourful Muertos Multiplier Megaways. This 2022 release comes with a 96.03% RTP and a boosted 10,000x maximum win. It also has a similar feature list, and we landed our biggest win of ₹12,000 through win multipliers in the base game that became permanent during free spins.
