Most online poker variations stick to a very similar setup, but DJ Wild Stud Poker goes for a different approach with faster rounds and a reduced element of surprise by immediately dealing five cards to your hand.
Our review of DJ Wild Stud Poker walks you through all the game has to offer, including features like wild cards, multi-hand play and trip bonuses that will get you closer to the game’s 2,000x maximum win potential.

There aren’t a whole lot of features to talk about, as Scientific Games sticks to a minimal set of mechanics. We managed our way around the table just fine, but to be honest, the game isn’t the easiest to follow. The interface doesn’t guide you, as it throws you into the action and leaves you to fend for yourself.
There is a pay table and help section that you can refer to, so if you’re feeling a bit lost, be sure to check these out. Once you set your ante bet or bets, you’ll be using the following features.
Deal – DJ Wild Stud Poker is a much faster poker variation, where all of your cards, as well as the dealer’s, are revealed in one go. Once you set your ante bet/bets, hitting the deal button gives you a hand of five cards and immediately uncovers them. You then get the chance to increase your bet and play or fold. The game highlights any winning combinations you get in your hand, although you will need to click on the paytable link to see exactly what it’s worth. If you hit the play button again, the dealer’s cards are revealed and if your combination is worth more than theirs, you walk away with all your winnings. Although this system is arguably a faster way of playing, revealing all five cards in one go takes away the thrill of slowly unveiling community cards. This is relative of course and won’t matter much if you’re landing big wins anyway. We got wins on most of our rounds, but the biggest hauls came from using multi-hand play.
Multi-hand Play – You can open up to three hands in every round. Sure, the more hands you add, the more expensive each round will become. But having more hands in play increases your chances of both landing a winning set and beating the dealer. Our biggest win came with wins on all three hands, combining two straights and one three-of-a-kind for a ₹100,000 win.
Wild Cards – The game throws in a helping hand by turning the number 2 card into a wild. This means it can substitute for any other card that could form part of a winning hand. We found them to be quite useful, and they helped us turn a pair into three of a kind quite a few times.
Trip Bonus – You can also set trip bonuses on each hand at the start of a game. These will payout even if you decide to fold. There is a catch though. Wins made using wild cards come with a reduced trip bonus payout. These vary from one winning to another, but just to give you an idea, while a regular royal flush pays out 1,000 to 1, one that includes wild cards is only worth 100 to 1. It’s a big downgrade, but on the plus side, you also get a new winning hand by combining five wilds, which pays 2,000 to 1. We used them occasionally, and they did form part of our big ₹100,000 win.
Scientific Games has created a fast-paced, visually striking poker game, complete with winnings that could go all the way up to 2,000x. We enjoyed the speed of each round and the potential that we got from having three hands in play. But on the other hand, the way the game immediately reveals hands made it less exciting than more traditional poker variations.
We’d still recommend this to players who are looking for an alternative version of poker with a pretty high maximum payout.
NetEnt’s Jacks or Better Double Up is a more traditional poker variation. You’re handed two initial cards and need to decide whether to up your bet or fold with each community card that gets revealed. We managed to push our winnings further with the gamble feature, which let us double our wins through the gamble mini-game.
Betsoft’s Jacks or Better embraces a more retro theme, but although it looks quite dated at first glance, it still has plenty to offer. We had no trip bonuses or gamble features to boost our winnings, but you still walked away with a win of ₹400,000.
