Blackjack is one of those classic table games that we love coming back to from time to time. We’ve tried our hand at loads of versions in the past, including European Blackjack-MH from Play’n Go. It’s one of the most famous game providers in the industry, so we went in with high expectations, especially knowing the game came with multi-hand play and insurance bets.
As you’ll find out from our review of European Blackjack-MH, the game gave us some great wins, despite its minimal set of features.

With its basic set of features, you’d mistake Play’n Go’s European Blackjack-MH for a mini or express version. Besides basic functionality like split and double down, the game throws in an insurance hand and multi-hand play. The inclusion of both mechanics helps lift the experience, and they give us more options to experiment with our bets and try out more advanced wagering strategies.
Insurance Bet – Although some might call it a cop-out, we tried out quite a few insurance bets when playing European Blackjack-MH. It’s a straightforward function which guarantees a 2:1 payout if the dealer’s hand wins. In the long run, the insurance bet ended up limiting our wins, especially with the inclusion of multi-hand play. The odds of the dealer winning against three hands is quite small, so it doesn’t make much sense to use the insurance bet when playing with many hands.
Double Down – Doubling down is as simple as hitting a button in European Blackjack-MH. We managed some pretty big wins through this feature, with a particular win across all three hands handing us a ₹2,000,000 win. Remember you can only double down after the initial hand is dealt on card values of nine, ten and eleven.
Split – In following European Blackjack rules, the game only lets you split your cards once. This opened up the potential for even bigger wins, and we did manage to split two out of three hands on a particular round. It wasn’t our biggest win in the game, but we still walked away with ₹600,000.
Multi-Hand Play – We love a bit of experimenting with our games, so having the option to try out different hand combinations was great. You could always opt to play with one hand in a traditional style but we ended up spending more time playing with many hands. Above all else, it lets you land bigger wins, which is how we got the ₹2,000,000 win we mentioned earlier on. A feature like this is also ideal for players who want to compare and contrast different blackjack strategies. It works well enough here but would have been improved with the inclusion of a betting history board. The board would have helped us keep track of the hands’ outcomes and given us more insight into the strategies that perform better.
As with other Play’n Go table games, European Blackjack-MH is a bit hit-and-miss. It comes with a friendly interface and all the basic features you’d expect to find in an online Blackjack game. And sure, the multi-hand play and insurance features add even more betting options to push you along the way.
But we would have liked to see a few more mechanics being added here. A betting history board would have added another layer to the multi-hand play and side bets could have expanded betting opportunities.
European Blackjack-MH manages to pull off a minimal experience that will be great for beginners and casual players. But this won’t cut it if you’re looking for a more advanced version of the game.

The visuals aren’t as good as the Play’n Go’s version, but the feature list is identical with insurance bets, three multi-hand play, double-down options, and a splitting function. We weren’t fans of the more limited win cap though, which is a step down from European Blackjack-MH at 6,000x.
