We’re all for advanced poker games, but sometimes it’s just fun to kick back with a simpler version of the game and click away to your heart’s content. And that’s exactly what Play’n Go’s Jacks or Better MH brings to the table.
The game comes with a simple set of features and an additional gamble function which can quadruple your winnings. We never quite reached the game’s ₹2,500,000 maximum win, but as you’ll see in our Jacks or Better MH review, we still walked away with sizable winnings.

We were hoping for some fast-paced poker action from Jacks or Better MH, and we weren’t disappointed. Play’n Go has gone for lightning-fast gameplay here, with a minimal set of features. It works as an express version of this popular poker variation, even though we wouldn’t have said no to having some side bet options.
But the speed works well, making for a pretty tight experience that is incredibly easy to pick up if you’re a beginner, too.
Deal – The game’s main feature, this deals five cards to your hand. You’ll need to decide which ones you want to hold before hitting the deal button again. In the second round, any cards you didn’t hold are replaced with new ones. At this point, any winning combinations are paid out and the round ends. We enjoyed the simplicity that Play’n GO has gone for here. Playing through rounds is incredibly easy and the game very clearly shows you the combinations to look out for as well as their payouts. We managed quite a few pairs and even landed a straight flush during one round, which gave us ₹500,000.
Hold – Once your initial cards are dealt, you can hit hold on the cards you want to keep. Again, this is a pretty simple feature that works absolutely well, so we have no complaints.
Gamble – Jacks or Better MH’s only special feature, the gamble function allows you to gamble your winnings after a round ends. A card is drawn and it’s up to you to guess its colour or suit. Guessing the colour doubles your win but guessing the suit quadruples it. We sadly never got any quadruple bonuses, but we did double quite a few winnings, even getting ₹40,000 for a pair.
We knew what to expect from Play’n Go’s Jacks or Better MH and the game certainly delivered. We loved the fast-paced action, the simplicity of the gameplay and the addition of the gamble feature which significantly improved the game’s overall win potential.
Sure, we could have been happier with some additional features, but ultimately we’d recommend Jacks or Better MH to both poker newbies and experienced players, who will no doubt want to push their luck with the game’s ₹2,500,000 maximum win.
NetEnt’s Jacks or Better Double Up from 2014 comes with a similarly simple feature list but only allows you to double your winnings through its gamble feature. Although we prefer its visuals to Jacks or Better MH, it comes with reduced potential, with a maximum bet of ₹500.
If you’re looking for a more retro version of the game, check out Betsoft’s Jacks or Better. Released back in 2016, the game has a very dated look to it, but it still has plenty of win potential to offer with a 4,000x maximum win. It’s also missing a gamble feature, so you won’t get the chance to boost your winnings further.
