Rich Wilde’s adventure in the depths of the Indian jungle is filled with slot features. But although you get your bog-standard wild symbols, scatter symbols and free spins, the most thrilling part of this experience comes through the bonus games. 

Sure, free spins are still the best way to get the biggest payouts in the game, but we enjoyed the variety of gameplay these bonus games brought to the table. 

Wild Symbols – The protagonist himself serves as the Pearls of India slot wild symbol. He’ll step in for any missing pay symbols that could form part of a winning combination. The Wilde symbol dropped quite often, which is no surprise given the slot’s medium level of volatility, and we were happy to have him swoop in and save the day with a fresh win whenever he showed up.

Scatter Symbols – The keys into Pearls of India’s free spins are represented by none other than the titular pearls themselves. You’ll need to collect three in any given round to unlock 10 free spins. We enjoyed the upgrade these symbols got during the bonus rounds, where scatter symbols turn wild as well. And landing another three of them during free spins adds another 10 free rounds to your tally. 

Free Spins – Gameplay remains mostly identical to the base game here, except for scatter symbols turning wild. Of course, the free spins are a welcome addition to any video slot, but we would have preferred having some more exciting gameplay modifiers to shake things up during the bonus rounds.

Gamble Feature – If you’re not particularly satisfied with a win you just landed, then you’ll want to have a go at the gamble feature. We like the way Pearls of India has turned this into a mini-game of sorts where you have to guess both the colour and suit of a card to boost your winnings. Getting one of them right doubles your win and getting both right quadruples it. You can gamble a win up to five consecutive times, but if you don’t guess either the colour or the suit, you end up losing it all. 

Bonus Games – Landing temple symbols during both the base game and free spins fills up the bonus game meter. Once it’s full, you get to choose from one of three bonus games. They’re a wonderful addition to the game, adding more win potential and varied gameplay. Our favourite was Wall of Shiva, which had us picking at tiles on the board and rewarding us with prizes whenever we’d pick the right ones. The Statue of Vishnu was also quite fun, asking us to pick pearls from the god’s hands to receive rewards until we pick an empty pearl and end the game. The Wheel of Brahma on the other hand was a standard instant cash prize wheel.
